A Teacher Tote is a Librarian-selected collection of children's trade books and other library materials relating to one subject. Totes are designed to supplement textbooks and enrich curriculum. It is our goal that through this service, learning will be enhanced and both teacher and students will become more aware of what the public library has to offer.
Totes are meant to be used in classroom situations with students in preschool to grade 12 (not for displays, personal use, college projects, etc.).
What do Teacher Totes contain?
Totes will contain approximately 20 items, depending on the subject and the availability of materials. Totes may include books (children's books and/or teacher manuals/activity books), magazines, audio books. A list of materials in the Tote will be provided.
Educational DVDs, which check out for three weeks, may be loaned as part of a tote. (Entertainment DVDs are not available as a teacher tote item.) Up to four specifically requested titles may be included in a Tote. Totes cannot be made for Ohio or Holidays. The library reserves the right to limit any subject in high demand.
How can I get a Teacher Tote?
Teacher Totes will be loaned to any teacher (preschool to grade 12) by calling the Youth Services Department at the Main Library at (330) 399-8807, ext. 206 or by completing an online Teacher Tote request form at least one week (7 days) in advance. You may reserve a Tote up to one month in advance (no earlier).
LIMIT - One Tote per month.
The teacher must have a library card in good standing to borrow Tote materials.
All materials will circulate for 21 days. Overdue fines will be charged per item, as usual. You may renew any item(s) in your Tote.
