Presentation about The Great Easter Flood of 1913

Tuesday, June 4

2 p.m.

Main Library in Warren

A free illustrated presentation about the Great Easter Flood of 1913 will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4 at the Main Library in Warren.

Guest speaker Trudy E. Bell, M.A., has been researching the Great Easter 1913 storm system, devastation, and legacies since 2003. According to Bell, the Great Easter Flood of March-April 1913 was the most widespread natural disaster suffered by the United States. It claimed more than 1,000 lives in parts of 15 states – including Ohio - wreaking devastation to the heart of the industrial north, including railroads, bridges, dams, telephone and telegraph communications, steel mills, water treatment plants, and city centers.

Bell is the author of the picture book The Great Dayton Flood of 1913 (Arcadia, 2008), articles (at http://trudyebell.com/1913flood.php), and research blog "Our National Calamity': The Great Easter 1913 Flood" (at http://nationalcalamityeaster1913flood.blogspot.com/).

The program at the library is free and open to the public. No reservations are required.
